Day 1 | Calabria

Arrive in Calabria and begin your Gastronaut adventure in one of Italy's most undiscovered culinary regions. Enjoy a welcome lunch in the seaside town of Pizzo, sample its famous tartufo gelato, and explore the stunning coastal town of Tropea on a guided walking tour. This evening, gather for a memorable welcome dinner before settling into your boutique seaside hotel overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Sunday, April 27th

Day 2 | Tropea

Discover why Tropea is considered the jewel of Calabria as you explore its ancient stone streets, historic churches, hidden laneways, and vibrant local markets with an expert local guide. Perched high above the turquoise sea, this stunning coastal town offers a fascinating glimpse into Calabrian culture and traditions. Enjoy a leisurely lunch showcasing the fresh Mediterranean flavours of the region before an afternoon and evening at your own pace.

Monday, April 28th

Day 3 | Reggio Calabria

Journey along Calabria’s spectacular coastline to Reggio Calabria, a vibrant seaside city overlooking Sicily and Mount Etna. Visit the renowned National Archaeological Museum to see the world-famous Riace Bronzes and enjoy an exclusive experience with celebrated Calabrian jeweller Gerardo Sacco. After lunch, discover the fascinating world of bergamot, one of Calabria’s most prized treasures, with a guided museum visit, aperitivo tasting, and hands-on perfume workshop.

Tuesday, April 29th

Day 4 | Geraci

Depart Reggio Calabria and travel inland through Calabria’s rugged countryside to the hilltop village of Gerace, one of southern Italy’s hidden gems. Visit the Barone G.R. Macrì estate for guided tastings of local wines and olive oils, paired with a traditional Calabrian lunch made with regional ingredients. Continue to the Ionian coast and settle into a luxury seaside retreat where dinner is enjoyed at the hotel.

Wednesday, April 30th

Day 5 | Ionian Coast

Today is intentionally slower, offering time to relax and enjoy Calabria at your own pace. Spend the morning at our luxury seaside resort, making use of the beach, spa, or simply soaking in the calm of the Ionian coast. In the evening, we gather for dinner in the picturesque coastal village of Le Castella, known for its dramatic Aragonese castle rising from the sea and its fresh, local seafood and handmade pasta.

Thursday, May 1st

Day 6 | Crotone

Travel to historic Crotone, an ancient Greek port city rich in coastal heritage. Explore its fascinating past on a guided tour before visiting a local cheese producer for a tasting that showcases Calabria’s artisanal dairy traditions. Continue into the Sila mountains and settle into a forest retreat surrounded by fresh alpine air. In the evening, enjoy a standout dining experience at a Michelin-recognized restaurant featuring modern Calabrian cuisine.

Friday, May 2nd

Day 7 | Sila Mountains

Today we discover the agricultural heart of Calabria's beautiful Sila region. We'll visit a local potato producer to learn about one of the area's prized ingredients before enjoying a traditional mountain-style lunch featuring regional specialties.

Later, we explore another cornerstone of Calabrian cuisine with an olive oil tasting at a local frantoio, gaining insight into the craftsmanship behind Italy's world-renowned olive oils.

This evening, we gather for dinner in the countryside near Torre Garga, celebrating the authentic flavours and traditions of Calabria's mountain communities.

Saturday, May 3rd

Day 8 | Lago & Gizzeria

Today we visit Lago, the Calabrian hometown of acclaimed Canadian Italian chef Pino Posteraro, for one of the most memorable experiences of our journey.

Hosted by Pino and his family, this exclusive Gastronaut Tours experience offers a rare opportunity to connect with Calabria's traditions through family stories, cherished recipes, and authentic home-cooked cuisine in a truly personal setting.

Later, we continue to the coast and check into Hotel Marechiaro in Gizzeria (or similar), where we'll enjoy our final evening together overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Sunday, May 4th

Day 9 | Calabria

After one final Calabrian breakfast, we transfer to Lamezia Terme Airport for departures home.

Over nine unforgettable days, we’ll have explored Calabria through its food, wine, landscapes, villages, artisans, and people — experiencing a side of Italy that remains wonderfully authentic, undiscovered, and deeply connected to tradition.
